Walley Jump as a Figure Skating Jump Warm-Up (Michelle Leigh)

Olympic coach Michelle Leigh uses walley jumps to warm up her skaters for double axel and triple jumps.  In this video, Michelle shares an exercise she uses to warm up the walley.  It’s a walley – double bracket – walley – double bracket – walley.  She also has her skater put her arms up over her head on the walleys.  Then Michelle has the skater do walley – double bracket – walley – double toe loop – double loop.  This is a great sequence for developing proper body movement and control of rotation and landings.  Michelle explains why this is so effective.
