Trevor Laak analyzes an excellent single axel, sharing insights about what makes this jump so good. This axel was performed by Madison Xaphakdy and was entered in the iCoachSkating Axel Contest held in November of 2018. Madison’s axel won the 8-10 year old age group. In the analysis below, Trevor points out important observations from the initial setup all the way through to the final landing position. Throughout the analysis, Trevor also discusses the development process and how this single axel could be improved or changed as a way for this skater to more easily land the double axel.
