LOVE the video. I had no idea a change of edge spin existed! great practise tips!

Awesome!! I will definitely try this with some of my skaters and myself, as I have limited experience with these! Any tips on how to teach the basics to older beginner kids who would much rather work on the “cooler” spins? I notice my skaters practicing the more advanced spins they see other skaters doing, rather than perfecting their “boring” basic spins. Always so helpful! Thank you!

I agree with her comment on making sure to teach the basic spins first. She also had good progressions.

This is all great information… nice to refresh our minds as to where we got the basics from.

I am so glad that Audrey mentioned the importance of teaching the basic spins first! I have seen many entry level skaters doing the change of edge spins (on purpose) and often have wondered to myself if the original spin they were changing the edge from could have/should have been stronger. Wouldn’t that make the spin have more WOW! factor!! 🙂 This had great drill ideas that I will be adding to my ‘toolbox of tips and tricks.’ I have one particular skater in mind for trying these out tomorrow. Very helpful, thank you!

I have never been secure in teaching complex spins; this video not only confirmed much that I already knew but gave me many new things to think about. Thanks.

Audrey, thank you so much for your time and expert advice! I, too, have never done change of edge spins and this video is extremely helpful!

I would like to thank you as this has given me more ideas on how to explain and produce some drills in helping the skaters do change of edge spins. These werent around when I was competing so it will give me a chance to try these out as well.
