Tom, it was a hoot to see you online.

This is great for little kids, but I also teach the bigger kids and adults. I don’t know how this would work for them I don’t think I could lift them up and I wouldn’t want them pulling me down (potential for a tangle-up here). What is an option for larger students when you are smaller than they are?

Thank you for your wonderful tips and excercises. What a great resource for coaches in small towns who don’t have easy access to networking with other coaches.

Tom: I appreciate all the coaches on here, and have learned something from everyone; but I have used your stuff the most, so far. Thanks for your input. Got any tips on teaching axels to adults and the not so naturally-inclined? By the way, I teach waltz jumps pretty much exactly as you do; and I love the little kids!! I’m a middle-aged adult guy/former show skater/high test dance-figure.

Hi Tom, Thanks for sharing your innovative tips. I was so excited after watching this video as I had the same method as yours, except that before I hold skaters to do the waltz jump, I would get them to do right foot swing….split and land backwards while using one hand to hold on to the side of the railing. The method that you’ve shared is 100% good tip. Like others, I’ve also used the tips that you’ve shared on my students and they are more confident in their skating moves now. Wonder if you could also share some tips on how to teach young beginner skaters one-foot scratch spins? Thanks once again!

Tom, Thank you so much for your tips! This is a great way to teach the waltz jump. I look forward to learning more from you. I have already incorporated some of the other tips from your previous videos and my student’s jumps are better!!

Thanks so much for addressing the needs of the beginner coach. There are a lot of us who can really benefit from information in teaching spins, jumps footwork, etc to the basic skills skater.
